• The partnership, which originated in April 2018, was the first-of-its-kind between a TMC and a ridesharing company and remains differentiated from existing reseller models in the rideshare space.
  • GBT and Lyft are providing GBT clients with a promotional rebate on spend when they sign up for Lyft Business.

NEW YORK – JANUARY 21, 2020 – American Express Global Business Travel (GBT), the world’s leading business partner for managed travel, today announced a five-year extension of its first-of-its-kind partnership with transportation company Lyft, to continue offering a fully-integrated ridesharing program to GBT clients. As part of the renewed partnership, Lyft and GBT will offer GBT clients a promotional rebate on ground spend.

Through the program, business travelers have complete access to Lyft for ground transportation, while travel managers can drive cost savings and policy optimization with visibility into spend and data, and flexibility to control program guidelines.

“Continuing our first-of-its kind ridesharing partnership with Lyft provides value for GBT clients by offering their business travelers a travel policy compliant option for ground transportation that provides an experience that is familiar to them in their everyday lives,” said John Bukowski, Vice President of Global Supplier Relations for American Express Global Business Travel. “As a way of celebrating the extension of our partnership, we are offering clients that participate in the Lyft Business program a way to not only optimize their ground program, but to monetize it as well through the promotional rebate.”

The partnership fully integrates Lyft’s rideshare platform, data and insights into more than 100 client travel programs as part of GBT’s comprehensive ground transportation platform and has made it easier for GBT business travelers to use Lyft for ground transportation.  Clients may capture rideshare spend, optimize savings in their ground travel programs, and mitigate risk through an integration with Expert Care™, GBT’s travel disruption and risk management platform.

“At Lyft, we believe an organization’s ground transportation program should drive their business forward,” said Caitlin Gomez, Head of Corporate Travel Partnerships at Lyft. “That’s why we’re excited to extend our successful partnership with American Express Global Business Travel for years to come, and offer a promotional rebate for members. This partnership is core to our work of elevating the travel experience for businesses, travel managers, and their employees, and ensuring organizations have the tools and support they need to effectively manage their travel programs.”

Travel managers and corporations interested in learning more about the Lyft-GBT partnership and the client promotional rebate should contact their GBT or Lyft client manager.
