London, 21 April 2016 – American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) today announces the appointment of Martin Ferguson as Director of Communications and Public Affairs, EMEA. In this role, Mr. Ferguson will be responsible for ensuring GBT’s vision is communicated to both external and internal audiences. He will serve as a key member of the EMEA management team, working closely with Joanna Macleod, SVP Global Service Delivery, and Elyes Mrad, Managing Director, EMEA.

Mr. Ferguson has many years of experience in the travel industry, both as a journalist and communications consultant. He was editor of Buying Business Travel and Air & Business Travel News before leading the corporate communications team in EMEA for Sabre Holdings. In 2010, Mr. Ferguson also co-founded The People Awards, an event set up to recognise and reward the best teams and individuals working in the UK business travel industry.

Mr. Mrad says: “Good communications are vital in the contemporary business environment. Martin’s expert knowledge and experience of the travel industry and media landscape will, therefore, be a great asset. With major investment in technology and a strategic acquisition plan, GBT is entering an exciting period of change and growth. This against the backdrop of geo-political and economic uncertainly means it is crucial to have high-caliber, strategic communicators on board.”

Mr. Ferguson commenced his new role in March and is based in London.
