CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
Greg O’Hara, chairman of the board of American Express Global Business Travel, is an investor with significant experience in the travel industry. He founded Certares and is currently its chairman and chief executive officer.
O’Hara is currently a member of the board of directors of Travel Leaders Group and has previously served on the boards of Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Travelport, Worldspan Technologies and various other companies. Before founding Certares, he was the chief investment officer at JPMorgan Chase's Special Investments Group and was also a managing director at One Equity Partners.
Earlier in his career, he served as an executive vice president of corporate planning and development of Worldspan Technologies and Worldspan, a Senior vice president of Sabre, Inc. and various other positions.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Doug Anderson is chief executive officer of American Express Global Business Travel. Previously, Doug served as the CEO and President of Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), after initially joining CWT as chief financial officer.
Before joining CWT, Doug served as senior vice president and chief financial officer at SITA, an IT and telecommunications service provider to the air transport industry.
Anderson spent 25 years at United Parcel Service of America, Inc. (UPS), where his most recent positions included senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer for UPS Logistics Group. He has extensive international experience in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe.
Anderson is a certified public accountant and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska. He currently resides with his family in the London area.
Eric J. Bock
CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER, CORPORATE SECRETARY AND GLOBAL HEAD OF MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS
Eric J. Bock is chief legal officer, corporate secretary and global head of mergers and acquisitions for American Express Global Business Travel. In this role, he is responsible for all legal, corporate governance and government relations matters for the company.
Before joining GBT, Bock served as executive vice president, chief legal officer and chief administrative officer, as well as chief compliance and ethics officer of Travelport and as a member of the board of directors of eNett International, a leading provider of innovative, integrated payment solutions. In addition to playing an integral role in developing and implementing Travelport’s strategic plans, he also was chairman of the enterprise risk management committee and a member of the employee benefits, charitable, disclosure and investment committees.
Before Travelport, Bock was executive vice president, law and corporate secretary for Cendant Corporation, overseeing the company’s legal practice groups in securities and corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate secretarial and governance matters, executive compensation, travel distribution services and marketing services. He also served on Cendant’s business ethics committee, disclosure committee, employee benefits committee and business continuity planning committee. Before Cendant, Bock was associated with the corporate group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
Bock is a graduate of Lafayette College and Fordham University School of Law.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Bill Brindle is Chief Operating Officer (COO) of American Express Global Business Travel (GBT), responsible for our combined global operational delivery teams (GBT Traveler Care and HRG Operations).
Prior to joining GBT, Bill served as COO of HRG, where he led innovations in HRG’s technology, distribution, product development and client data, as well as leading the growth and ultimate sale of its Fraedom payments business to Visa.
Bill joined HRG in 1998 as Head of Technology, and was instrumental in driving change systems within the business, focusing on the design, development, delivery and support of innovative business systems and architecture, resulting in him being named one of the most influential person in business travel technology.
Starting his career in the Civil Service, Bill moved into the travel industry in 1981, holding various positions in distribution technology with British Caledonian Airways and Amadeus Global Travel Distribution before joining HRG.
Philippe Chérèque is president of American Express Global Business Travel (GBT), responsible for GBT’s customer-facing organisations, including sales and client management, Global Business Consulting, Meetings & Events and Technology.
Before that, he served as the senior vice president of corporate strategy, responsible for driving and coordinating the company’s business development, marketing, technical architecture and product plan. Chérèque joined Amadeus Global Travel Distribution S.A. as one of the founders in 1987.
Before joining Amadeus, Chérèque worked at Air France for seven years, where he held a number of managerial positions in operational research, computer analysis and passenger application software development.
A graduate engineer of the Institut Supérieur d’Electronique de Paris, Chérèque also holds a master of science degree in electronics from the University of Paris.
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Martine Gerow is chief financial officer of American Express Global Business Travel (GBT), responsible for overall financial management of the company, its financial reporting and transparency and for multiple corporate functions including controller, treasury, tax, audit, pricing, financial planning and analysis.
Before joining American Express Global Business Travel, Gerow served as chief financial officer of Carlson Wagonlit Travel where she led a large global team overseeing all functions within the finance division. She has also held CFO positions at French media services company SoLocal Groupe and Spanish multinational food company, Campofrio. Earlier in her career, she was a strategy consultant for the Boston Consulting Group, before moving to PepsiCo and then Danone, where she held division CFO and group controller roles.
Gerow received a business degree from HEC Paris and an MBA from the Columbia Business School in New York. She has sat on the Board and been chair of the audit committee of BPI France Investment since 2015.
CHIEF COMPLIANCE AND RISK OFFICER
Si-Yeon Kim is chief compliance and risk officer for American Express Global Business Travel (GBT), overseeing compliance & ethics, operational risk and credit risk for the company.
Previously, Kim served as chief compliance officer for One Equity Partners (OEP), JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s private investment arm, where she oversaw all financial and bank regulatory matters as well as FCPA/UKBA, OFAC and AML compliance for OEP and its portfolio companies. Before joining OEP, Kim was the Asia-Pacific general counsel of Avon Products, Inc., based in Hong Kong and, before that, assistant general counsel at Avon’s Global Corporate headquarters in New York. She began her law career at Chadbourne & Parke LLP.
Kim received her J.D. from Columbia Law School where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, her A.M. from Harvard University in Russian regional studies and her B.A. from Seoul National University in Russian language and literature.
CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER
JoAnne Kruse is chief human resources officer for American Express Global Business Travel (GBT). Previously, Kruse was the founder and a partner in an HR consulting firm, Human Capital Partners (HCpartners), which provided services to companies in the areas of talent development and coaching, compensation and benefits and support of acquisition and integration projects.
Before founding HCpartners, Kruse served as executive vice president of Human Resources for Travelport Ltd., responsible for global human resource functions including rewards, talent, engagement, facilities, corporate social responsibility and internal communications.
A career human resource executive, Kruse was executive vice president of Cendant’s travel distribution Services (TDS) division, the predecessor to Travelport. In that capacity she served as the human resources leader and manager for the acquisition and divestiture of more than two dozen businesses over five years. By the time TDS was spun off from Cendant into Travelport, it had grown to more than 11,000 employees worldwide and its core brands included Galileo, Worldspan, Orbitz, Cheaptickets and GTA. Additionally, Kruse has held human resources roles at PepsiCo / Frito Lay, Chase Manhattan Bank and Clairol.
Kruse graduated with a BS in industrial and labour relations from Cornell University and earned her MA in psychology from the Columbia University.
Chief Transformation Officer
Joanna Macleod is executive vice president, global service delivery for American Express Global Business Travel (GBT). She leads a global team which provides travel management services to corporate clients across a wide range of sectors. Previously, Joanna also served as a director on the board of American Express Europe LLC.
Macleod is experienced in setting up, leading and transforming international service businesses. Her passion is the challenge of leading teams in companies or industries going through significant change and delivering sustainable customer value and superior customer service.
Before joining GBT and American Express, Macleod spent three years in the business process outsourcing sector, first as chief operating officer at Sitel EMEA and then as a consultant providing business transformation services in the HR outsourcing sector.
At Dell, Macleod managed customer service operations for EMEA and led the transformation of the organisation to a lower-cost, high-quality service model, establishing teams in India, Morocco and Slovakia.
Joanna has also held corporate finance and corporate development roles with KPMG and Telecom New Zealand.
Macleod holds a bachelor of accountancy from Glasgow University and an MBA from Canterbury University. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Executive Vice President, Global Supplier Relations
Michael Qualantone is the executive vice president of global supplier relations for American Express Global Business Travel (GBT). In this capacity, he leads a global team responsible for all GBT supplier engagements with airlines, hotels, car companies and limo providers, as well as on-line booking tool providers and global distribution systems.
Previously, Qualantone led the Travel Partner Network, made up of GBT Franchise partners who service business travellers in countries where GBT has no proprietary presence. He has also led global marketing, product development and innovation, as well as internal and external Communications. This role included innovative and strategic efforts such as mobility, MI and customer value programs. The communication team leads all industry, media and social media channels.
In a prior role, Qualantone was vice president, client services group, bringing together key operational and client management aspects of the organisation. He has spent time both on the client management side as well as in operations as VP, on sites and customer solutions. Qualantone has led operations for both the US on-site servicing and Latin America call centres. He has been with American Express for 27 years and has held various leadership positions within finance and business travel.
Qualantone earned his MBA and BS degree from Arizona State University.
CHIEF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
As chief information technology officer (CITO), David Thompson capitalizes on his more than 25 years of experience to manage enterprise technology, application development, IT operations and data systems, information security and the product development teams at American Express Global Business Travel (GBT).
Thompson joins GBT after most recently overseeing IT strategy, operations, information security and product development as chief technology officer and executive vice president of global operations at Western Union, an international financial services company. His extensive background also includes previous chief technology and information officer positions at leading technology companies Symantec, Oracle and PeopleSoft.
While earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Marymount University, Thompson also served as an intelligence systems officer in the U.S. Air Force.
