Prestigious award presented to Mr Pellizzer in recognition of his significant contribution to advancing business in Shanghai, specifically in the field of corporate travel management
SHANGHAI, China – September 5, 2014 – CITS American Express Business Travel is pleased to announce that Vice President and General Manager, Marco Pellizzer, has been awarded the prestigious 2014 Shanghai Magnolia Silver Award by the Shanghai Municipal Government. The award, named after Shanghai’s city flower, is given to expatriate senior executives and business leaders who have made a significant contribution to the economy, business environment, international relations, community development and other specialist management areas. The award was presented yesterday in a ceremony at the Shanghai Jing An Shangri-La Hotel.
Mr Pellizzer received this award in recognition of the contribution he has made in corporate travel management in Shanghai over the past seven years that he has lived in China. Mr Pellizzer and his team at CITS American Express Business Travel work closely with their clients, ranging from large multi-national companies through to local Chinese organizations, to ensure they have the technology, insight, tools and processes in place to run an efficient travel management program, consistent with their overall corporate goals.
Mr Pellizzer also hosts the annual China Business Travel Forum, which has taken place in Shanghai for the past nine years. Each year, this event brings together approximately 300-500 executives from across the corporate travel industry, including airlines, hoteliers, Government organizations, technology companies, multi-national organizations and Chinese companies, in order to share industry insight and expertise.

In addition to his business endeavors, in his personal life Mr Pellizzer is also an advocate for the importance of business leaders dedicating time and energy to assisting the local communities in which they live and conduct business. Outside of work, Mr Pellizzer personally contributes to the Home of Sunshine, an organization dedicated to helping young people in Shanghai who are intellectually disabled or have learning difficulties. Also in his personal time, he works with Project Hope, a non-Government foundation supporting youth in poverty-stricken areas.
