London – January 20, 2022 – American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) today announced that it is collaborating on a pilot with flight data technology provider Lumo. The collaboration is the latest step in GBT’s mission to help clients achieve their carbon reduction targets, and lead travel to low carbon future.

The pilot will explore the feasibility of integrating Lumo’s API with GBT’s centralized global booking data platform to make emissions information available through GBT’s digital channels. Equipped with this information, travelers and travel managers could make better informed, greener choices when they are selecting flights.

Nora Lovell Marchant, GBT’s VP of Sustainability, said: “GBT wants to be at the forefront of innovation in sustainable travel technology and we are considering an ecosystem of partners who can help us do that. Lumo can help build the technology to enable travelers to understand sustainable flight options.”

Other decarbonization initiatives recently announced by GBT include the company’s formal commitment to setting science-based targets as an interim step on its journey to net-zero emissions globally by 2050 and the debut of Green Compass – a new service developed by GBT’s consulting arm, Global Business Consulting – that helps companies decarbonize business travel while continuing to travel.
