AIR RE-SHOP EXPERT searches for lower air fares while driving minimal traveler disruption and optimal compliance

New York, NY, March 13, 2017 – American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) today announced the launch of AIR RE-SHOP EXPERT, a savings tool that searches for lower air fares while driving minimal traveler disruption and optimal compliance. AIR RE-SHOP EXPERT maximizes savings with automatic airfare monitoring, re-booking and re-ticketing.

Airfares fluctuate frequently, creating significant savings opportunities if one is able to monitor prices closely. This can be difficult for business travelers and a drain on their productivity, often leading to company money left on the table.

“At American Express GBT, we believe that the traveler experience should be at the center of everything we do, and we are redesigning products and services to match,” said Christophe Tcheng, Vice President, Core Products and Platform Architecture, American Express Global Business Travel. “Savings shouldn’t have to come at the expense of a great user experience. We developed AIR RE-SHOP EXPERT with exactly that in mind, and the success our pilot customers have seen proves just how much savings potential there is with re-shopping.”

Travel managers gain real bottom line savings, with no traveler disruption, delivered with AIR RE-SHOP EXPERT’s like-for-like search. Travel managers also benefit from greater visibility into policy compliance and have new insight into overall program performance.  The business traveler benefits from minimal disruption and the ability to maintain the same preferences that they chose when they initially booked their travel inlcuding the same flight, cabin, fare class and seat (aisle, middle or window).

AIR RE-SHOP EXPERT EXPERIENCE

  • The traveler books their ticket through standard process, online or offline. Behind the scenes, the search and re-booking process begins automatically within the first 24 hours after the ticket has been issued.
  • If a cheaper fare for the same flight, same cabin and same fare type (i.e. refundable or non-refundable) is found, the seat is re-booked and re-ticketed automatically with no involvement from the traveler and no additional transaction fee.
  • An updated invoice with the new, lower fare is sent to the traveler.
  • An Insightful savings report, showing overall program performance metrics, is sent monthly.

In pilot, American Express GBT customers saved an average of $100 USD per ticket using AIR-RESHOP EXPERT and in the first two months of launch,  the total savings generated for all customers using the product is upwards of *$150,000.00.

AIR RE-SHOP EXPERT is currently available in the US via Sabre™ with access via Apollo™ launching in the next few months. Availability will expand throughout 2017.  For more information on AIR RE-SHOP EXPERT, please visit https://www.amexglobalbusinesstravel.com/solutions/travel-rebooking/.
